First aid kit for newborn foal

Details

The Pavo SOS kit is intended as first aid for newborn foals that for some reason do not receive colostrum at all or not enough. The first aid kit includes a colostrum, Pavo FoalMilk powder and a feeding bottle. The mare's first milk is called colostrum. Colostrum is thick and yellowish. It contains a large number of antibodies that protect the foal against infections for the first few months and allow the foal a good start in life. However, not everything always goes as planned and sometimes colostrum is not available. In some mares, milk production may have started at such an early stage that vital colostrum has been wasted in advance. If the mare drains milk before foaling, it would be a good idea to milk the mare's milk in the freezer if it is suspected that the colostrum would otherwise be wasted. Sometimes it can also be so sad that a mare dies in foaling, and no artificial mother is available. In this case, the Pavo SOS kit can save the foal. The Pavo SOS kit includes all the essential nutritional needs for the first 48 hours of the foal. Pavo's SOS-Kit also reduces the risk of the foal becoming ill, e.g. dangerous diarrhea in the newborn. The package contains: Colostrum substitute (2 x 150 g) feeding bottle and teat Pavo FoalMilk powder (1 x 1500 g) Instruction manual Instructions: Step 1: Prepare 1 liter of drinking milk (1 liter = 1000 ml) You need a pan with a capacity of at least 1 liter Put 300 ml of cold water in a pan Add 400 ml of boiling water. You now have 700 ml of water at approx. 60 ° C. Add 1 scoop (= 100 grams) of FoalMilk powder and mix until the powder is completely dissolved Add 300 ml of cold water, stirring constantly. You now have 1 liter of warm drinking milk (temperature approx. 40 ° C) Step 2: Preparation of colostrum Add a full bag of Pavo Colostrum (= 150 g) to 1 liter of warm drinking milk and mix until all the colostrum powder has dissolved. Step 3: Use colostrum Cut open the tip of the teat of feeding bottle with the sharp scissors. Make only a small opening where the foal can taste the milk. Serve the bottle with about 250 ml of warm colostrum (approx. 40 ° C) at a time, about every hour. Repeat steps 1-3 to prepare a second dose. Once another dose of colostrum has been fed, the foal can be fed with only FoalMilk. Give the foal preferably small amounts of milk at a time but very often. horses: 18 times 400 ml at a time ponies: 18 times 240 ml at a time tips: Use Pavo S.O.S. kit first aid kit immediately after birth if the foal has any problems in obtaining milk from the mare (preferably within 3 hours, but no later than 12 hours after birth). Ask the vet for a health check-up within 24 hours of giving birth. The best way to heat a drink is with a water bath. Put a bottle of the finished drink in a larger container with hot water. This prevents the milk from boiling. Never heat colostrum in the microwave. Even artificial colostrum antibodies are destroyed at high temperatures.
